Project Scope

The objective was to produce a high-quality educational video series that simplifies complex chemistry concepts, making them accessible and engaging for a wide audience while maintaining academic integrity.

Design Work

  • Educational Video Series: Captured, edited, and produced a 20-video series titled Chemistry Matters, a lecture-based resource designed to make advanced chemistry topics relatable to the public.
  • Content Planning and Filming: Collaborated with "Prof Al" to plan and record each session, ensuring the content was structured for maximum clarity and audience engagement.
  • Post-Production Enhancements: Edited videos with precision, adding visual aids, animations, and subtitles to enhance comprehension and maintain viewer interest.
  • Accessibility Focus: Prioritised clear communication and visual support to ensure the series appealed to learners from diverse backgrounds and knowledge levels.

Client testimonial

I have recently had the great pleasure of working with Selina Goddard, from SMG Digital Designs, who planned, shot, and edited 20 videos for my YouTube channel “Chemistry Matters”. These 15-20 minute videos were hugely labour-intensive, with a large amount of planning required by both myself and Selina, and I was somewhat dreading the shoot, given the many things that could have gone wrong. However, it turned out to be a breeze – Selina had everything brilliantly organised, and it all went without a hitch. Of course, shooting the videos was only half the story though, and editing over 7 hours of videos would have been an enormous job – I imagine Selina would have been sick of my voice at the end of all of this. But again, the editing went very smoothly – Selina provided me drafts of the videos to go through, and any (minor) issues I outlined were quickly and, most importantly, correctly dealt with. As a result, I now have a further 20 videos on my channel which will help struggling Chemistry students all around the world. Selina was a joy to work with, and I would absolutely, whole-heartedly, recommend her to anyone having requirements in the digital space.
